Delicious, Frustrating Experience at Supper

Last night, I was excited to try Supper on 2nd St. btw. A & B. My friends had raved about it as another charming, inexpensive, delicious Italian East Village restaurant, in the vein of Il Bagatto.

And it was all of those things -- yet I found myself cursing the place. It was one of those "I can't believe they treat customers this way" evenings. We waited over an hour and a half in the bar area (we were told 35-45 minutes). During this time, questions about our ever-increasing wait time were met with rolled eyes. When we were finally seated, our server told us that we had to order all at once, and that she couldn't possibly bring us appetizers (even though we were starving after our wait). We plowed through the bread, which was served with a tiny dish of unspreadable white beans. When she asked how we were all doing, I blurted out "I'm angry because of this wait." She ignored the comment and kept running off the list of specials. No apology or explanation.

The food, all told, was delicious and inexpensive. And the atmosphere was charming. And I'll probably go back because of those things. I was just frustrated!!! So everyone who was thinking of going, be forewarned of the indifferent service.
