Delicious Dinner at Green's on Saturday

We were treated to a birthday dinner by vegetarian friends on Saturday ... and it wasn't even our birthday! Talk about luck!

We started with some marinated cukes (minty), fabulous radishes, little wedges of fantastic cheese (didn't get name), Acme pain d'epis and butter.

Husband and I shared a salad with almonds, very fresh greens and cheese; and a green papaya salad with crisp tofu, red onions, Thai basil, peanuts, butter lettuce and lime chili sauce (copied this from their on-line menu). I loved the salad with almonds and thought the papaya salad was pretty good. Husband is fan of green papaya, but I can take it or leave it.

Next we shared a wonderful curry with lots of different veg. - red and yellow peppers, caulif., snap peas, tiny spuds, rice and a sweet/sour/savory relish. We were holding ourselves back from licking the plate.

The other dish we shared was a perfect quiche/tart of morels with a buttery crust. It was served with a variety of tiny spuds and some greens.

Desserts were also fabulous. I had a peach tarte tatin with some buttermilk ice cream with a nut brickle. Amazingly delicious. I could have easily eaten another helping.

Husband had a berry (blackberry?) sorbet and a pear ginger sorbet with some great cookies.

It was a lovely evening, we had a table overlooking the Marina with the GG Bridge in the background. The service was flawless and we felt unrushed and relaxed through the whole meal. We hadn't been to Greens in many years, but now we're already talking about going back soon! What a delightful surprise!
