I just returned from a dinner at Del Posto. While some of the food was fantastic, other dishes were sloppy and incosistent, not good at this price level.
1. I had a wonderful seafood salad with a tomato saffron emulsion. The seafood was wonderful, soft and extremely fresh. I especially liked the chunks of fresh lobster.
2. I had a wonderful ravioli stuffed with veal and raw mortadella, the star of the evening.
3. We shared a plate of tepid oversalted, undercooked risotto which was pretty bad for 70 bucks
4. My main corse was a simple rack of lamp served with a thick tomato sauce on the side. Good quality lamb but not that memorable.
A few of my dining companions ordered the veal chop for two, medium rare. While it was a nice piece of meat, it was overcooked and quite dry. They also served a plate of sea bass that was somewhat fishy.
The room is quite comfortable, but it has that Jersey feel. Something tells me Mario has less to do with Del Posto. For now on, Im sticking to Babbo.
