I'm looking for (even a pale imitation of) a taco I had in Omaha (at the GI Forum in case anyone is interested)... spiced ground beef in a flour tortilla, crimped at the top to keep the fillings in and deep fried to the point of perfect crisp and flakiness. The one I couldn't eat at breakfast (I know) was eaten in the car later (road trips, eh?) and was still pretty good. I can't tell you how bad I wish I'd brought back a flat of them.
But I didn't. Has anyone had anything like this in Toronto? I've had flautas at a few places but a) they seem to be crunchy rather than flaky, and b) you just can't pack enough delicious in there. I know the general state of Mexican food in Toronto isn't great but then, this probably doesn't really qualify as Mexican anyway.
