I'm originally from Queens and lived in the city for years. I moved to LA 10 years ago and get a trip or two to the city every year. In order to maximize my trips I sprinkle in some new places with some old standbys. My old standbys which is not up for discussion are Joe's Pizza, Pearl Oyster Bay (steamers - you cannot get them in LA), Daniel's Bagels and Halal Cart on 53rd/6th. Here are my remaining choices
Pizza - Motorino, Co or Keste. I'm leaning towards Motorino in the city based on write ups and feedback on the board.
Italian - Barbone, Sfoglia, Uva or Della'Amina. I couldn't get into Babbo so I want to try some place I've never been and not super fancy. Been to Convivio, Scarpetta, Elio's, Supper, Frank, Il Mulion, Il Bagatto, il Postino and many others. My main goal is getting the absolute best pasta. I usually like to order 3 different types with my wife and taste our way through. A must order for me is some type of ragu/bolognese sauced dish.
Sweets - Doughnut Plant, Wafels and Dinges, Levain Bakery and Kee's Chocolates are at the top of my list. Is there anything new or spectacular I should add?
