How do you decide on the source for a recipe??

I have numerous cookbooks (which is the good news). The bad news is that after finding something that looks exquisite in the market, I have to rummage through umteen different indexes to find something to my liking. More often than not, I find myself browsing through epicurious.com or foodnetwork.com for a recipe because the search function is so handy.

I have an untold amount invested in my cookbooks and I feel like I'm not using them to their potential. What do others do in this situation? I've thought of copying all the indexes to put into a notebook for quick reference, but I'm not sure that would help either.
