Death of a kitchen tool

rmarisco | Nov 11, 201508:47 PM     7

my Kitchenaid 9 speed immersion blender started smoking today while in use. 15 years after purchasing it, perhaps it may have seen it's last day...

I use it for pureeing soup almost exclusively. Can anyone recommend one of the (latest) models? Since I only use it for soup, I am thinking I don't want to spend much on it. On the other hand, the latest Breville looks like it could possibly mix cookie dough, which might make it valuable to me (I do not have a stand mixer) and potentially worth the extra price. Thanks!
