What's The Deal with Stone Crabs?

Ever since Joe's opened, it seems as if everyone's offering stone crabs--either on the menu or as a special.

Have always seemed to me like a lot of money for very little meat. The dipping sauce is better than the item itself--I'd as soon dunk some bread in it.
