What's the deal with Mamak? The menu is just like the one at Hawkers. Did some chef or partner jump ship?

I tried Orlando's Mamak the other night. It's good, but its Asian street food is nearly identical, in many cases, to the dishes the Hawkers, which is nearby. Does anyone know what's going on? I thought maybe a partner or chef jumped ship and took the recipes along. Here's a blog I wrote about it, but I really want information.
