de Buyer again! Rust in new pan on outside.

flatheat | Dec 1, 201406:59 PM     7

Okay, I wanted to save some money, so I paid less and got a new de Buyer Mineral B pan that has rust spots not only on the inside, but the bottom as well. This will sound like a pretty stupid question, but when one seasons a pan, one is working on the inside of the pan. Right? So, how does one control the rust on the outside bottom of the pan. I'm cooking induction so I don't think I want oil on the bottom of my pan.

Also, I'm aware of the recommendations from de Buyer for seasoning the inside of the pan. Is the Volrath YouTube video using flaxseed in 11 steps also a good method for these pans? Is it better than the de Buyer instructions method?
