Would you keep this de Buyer pan?

RoseyMiss | Oct 24, 2012 10:07 PM

Hi all!

I have been lurking on here for a while and always appreciate everyone sharing their knowledge and insight. I finally came out of hiding to get some advice.

I recently found out about carbon steel de Buyer pans... I also quickly realized I couldn't afford one! I saw some old threads where folks had bought theirs on discount from Tuesday Morning. For the heck of it, I went to the one by my house and snagged a 10 inch pan.

I'm not gonna lie - this pan is a little rough around the edges. Literally. It's got some scratches and little chips off the edges, from where I imagine it's been getting abused by other pans this whole time. It also has some small rust spots and a couple small scrapes in the coated handle. And while this doesn't sound too classy, I assure you this was the best pan BY FAR. I went to the other TMs in my area, and what few they had were way worse.

So, would you keep this pan? My husband said I should take it back and put the money towards getting a nicer one. The down side is that will cost me twice as much. Black Friday/ Cyber Monday are closing in; are de Buyer pans something I could get a good deal on?

Thanks for reading my novel, and a big thanks in advance for any advice you could give me!
