We got our first de Buyer fry pan yesterday. It is a 12.5" force blue country fry pan.
When it arrived, it was all uniform dark blue color.
We tried to season it by first boiling potato peels for 15 minutes, and then heating the oil.
But as soon as the potato peels were boiled, we found some white spots on the bottom and near the bottom of the pan -- look like what would result from metal spatula scraping a non-stick pan. -- shown in the 2nd photo.
We went on to season it with heating with oil. I think more white spots resulted. -- shown in the 3rd photo.
Is this normal? Does the de Buyer force blue country fry pan has a coating? Is this coating supposed to flake off like this (constantly) in normal use?
