E-mailed Tom(Blueschef) in September to see how he was doing with finding a hall for the dinner and if I could help. He was having trouble finding a BYOB hall. I found 2 halls close to his location so he wouldn't have to move his supplies that far--sent him the names ,addresses and phone No.(both are BYOB's). He e-mailed me the other day saying that he called one(Cedar Club) and they wanted $600.00. He felt that was alot of money and will call the other one (Charity Lodge) soon to see their price. Maybe we could let him know around how many people would be attending, then he could figure out how much money he has to spend.
Saw that my post was missing from the Rib Run reviews(long post and probably forgot to click on post--to many ribs). Just wanted to say THANK YOU RICH(did someone say they loved when people used CAPITALS) Ray and I started out late for the rib run and thought we would catch up to you at Uncle Dewey's-with your packed coolers and comfy beach chairs. We just couldn't pass by Rib Shanty with out getting ribs(Holly's fault-with a 5 grease stain rating how could we just drive by).Ribs, Chicken, cornbread, cole slaw, potato salad, greens and mac and cheese all OUTSTANDING!! Sweet potato pie ,okay. I just loved this owner/cook(how can't you love a man that can cook that good)he talked about your rib buffet and the chowhounds for 20 min. Next stop was Uncle Dewey's--the fish and the sweet potato pies got an A+ rating from us. The fish was whiting with a cornmeal crust the cook told us--I tasted a tangy spice in the cornmeal crust does anyone know what it was??Got Uncle Dewey's phone no. so we can call and order a whole sweet potato pie to pick up on our way home from Cape May. They also will deep fry a whole turkey--who's having Thanksgiving? David, ate some ribs and fish for you--and you really enjoyed it!!
Rich, glad we inspired you to resurrect the DDC.
