Hi. We are coming in on Friday and I've been super-busy and haven't gotten around to making reservations for dinner. So I need suggestions.
My mom is not the sort of person who goes in for parades of clever little dishes, etc, so I need something that I will be excited to eat but that isn't gimmicky. Preferably somewhere with a good wine list and where I'll be able to get a reservation for Friday night. But something quintessentially New York because (drum roll please) my mom has never been to New York despite having lived in DC for the past 60 years. E.g., something like Guastavino's, where she can be thrilled that she's sitting under a bridge (though I haven't eaten there for ~5 years and have no recollection of the food). We'll most likely be in Midtown, so that's probably easiest.
