[D.C.] DC Coast

Scarecrow | Aug 9, 2005 10:19 PM

I had dinner tonight at DC Coast, near Franklin Square. They were very croweded -- I had to wait 25 min. for a table, but service was excellent. I had the oyster caesar, which was great if slightly overdressed for my taste, but I'm somewhat of a minimalist. I also had the whole striped bass which was very good, if a little overcooked. It comes with a simple cucumber salad that goes nicely with the texture and flavors of the fish.

They have a nice selection of wines by the glass, including the King Estate Pinot Gris ($8.75), Murphy-Goode Sauvignon Blanc ($7), and the Cline Viognier ($8).

Service was impeccable. My waitress was very attentive, and everyone working there who walked by discreetly looked at the table to see if anything needed to be done.

Not that it matters, but Larry King (of Larry King Live fame) was in the house. For out of towners like me, that's a fair, if dull, celebrity sighting.

It's an upbeat room with very good food and outstanding service. I'll be back.
