I would like to take my other half out for a birthday meal in Washington DC in April. We are staying in a Downtown hotel, so somewhere that's easy to get to from there.
I would like somewhere with superb food and a good atmosphere, preferably where we would be required to dress up (and boy, do we Brits dress up). Alternatively, something special or quirky - say by the river or with city views would be good.
So far, so good, but we are both vegetarians - no meat, no fish and want a menu where we will have some imaginative choice (spinach and ricotta canneloni need not apply), of 2 or 3 main courses.
Paying around $150 for both of us (with 2 x bottles of wine), but prepared to pay a lot less for the right place!
All you chowhound's fabulous advice gratefully anticipated.
