dawn's dish, sichuan peppercorns...kingston

took some time off today, and went driving. here's the chowie-related things..

dawn's dish (new paltz) is no longer. it's now a southwest mexican style place (closed when i was there), though they serve pecan pie and one other pie as well. i suspect it's same owners, different style food.

found sichuan peppercorns at kimm's in kingston (wall st.) haven't tried them yet...they're the heated ones to comply with u.s. law.

jane's was open and doing a bustling business. normally ice cream, their lunch specials smelled quite good.

had lunch at the mid hudson buffet. they had a bunch of stuff, a mongolian bbq, and some sushi...but i was hoping for more chinese selections at the buffet. i think for people with kids, this was great; they had mac n cheese, pizza, salmon, potato puffs, chicken tenders, as well as many things found at fast-food chinese takeouts...but not much in the way of 'traditional' chinese. however, the place was clean, the food was fresh and hot, it wasn't greasy, so for what it was, it was fine. i just hoped for a bigger / better selection.
