Had a great dinner at Daughter Thai in Oakland--got the 24-hour beef noodle soup recommended in Luke Tsai's review, as well as the Hat Yai fried chicken. The chicken was a bit bland (I couldn't detect any turmeric) but crispy, probably good for kids or the unadventurous. The short ribs were unbelievably tender, and the broth and vegetables may replace pho as my go-to cold weather food. We wanted to order one of the spicy Southern Thai fish curries, but the server warned us they were "very hot, 10/10." Place was packed on a Wednesday evening, but cleared out around 7:45--good for them, as a lot of other restaurants in Montclair looked empty. Good wine list (reds and some interesting whites that would go with the aromatic and spicy curries), cocktails and a smallish selection of local and Thai beers.
Has anyone else tried Daughter Thai? Would love to know if their "spicy" is really that hot!
