As part of a gift for a newly married friend of mine, I'm creating a package of 'even though you're married, you can still go out on dates' things for her and the groom. I'd like to get them a gift certificate for a nice, elegant, date type restaurant that's North of Toronto. They live in Woodbridge, he works in Markham, she works in Vaughn, so anywhere in that North of Steelesish kind of area will work fine.
She is Italian, so I can't imagine many Italian kitchens that will measure up to home unless they're fabulous. On the other hand they're quite conservative eaters, so I'm shying away from the many wonderful Asian places that are available. I'm thinking something fairly classic (good food, but stuff you might find a bit dull as a serious 'hound). Perhaps the School on 14th Avenue, or what the Devonsleigh was before it changed.
Dinner for two, including appetizers, a glass of wine each, and dessert for under $150 would be preferable.
