Damon's prime rib (am I letting out a secret?)

Oh My God. Last night, I almost cried eating a slab of prime rib.

I love Damon's for the luau themed decor and the vintage Hawaiian music they pipe in. Probably the best restaurant soundtrack in L.A. The food I've had there is good, but not mind-blowing. It's a steakhouse and they know what they are doing with meat, but the sides are a little uninspired.

I was all set to order the tenderloin when the server noted that Monday is $5.00 off Prime Rib dinner night. That switched my decision, even though I haven't had much luck with Prime Rib.'s now one of my favorite cuts of meat. At Damon's, they slow roast the Prime Rib and they always run out. When we were leaving around 8, we were told they had been out for a while. I probably got one of the last cuts.

I ordered it rare and it WAS rare, but perfectly warm throughout. I ordered the smallest cut (10oz) and it was MORE than enough meat, probably cut over an inch thick. It was completely, literally, melting in my mouth. No chewy bits, nothing but soft melting fat on the outside and unbelievably tender meat throughout.

The au jus was actually the stand out. Nothing fancy, just the flavors of roasted meat, salt, and pepper. Dipping each morsel was delayed gratification, but well worth it.

They offer the Prime rib in 10, 15, and 20 oz cuts. Prices start at $21.95 so with that $5.00 discount, my dinner was a crazy value. I was surprised there weren't lines out the door. Even at full price, this is a great value.
