Dallas BBQ report

New Yorker on a quick business trip to Dallas, got to try four Dallas BBQ places mentioned on this board:

Bull's - Straight from airport, had a three meat plate: ribs, brisket and hot links. Ribs were not so great, brisket was good as were the links. Not the best BBQ but it was after 8 on a Sunday night and kinda slow.

Sonny Bryans (Downtown/West End)- got taken here for a quick business lunch, followed the local and ordered the brisket plate. It was just OK. The all you can eat beef ribs did look good, though.

Holy Smokes - Had three meat plate for lunch: Brisket, pulled pork and sausage. Brisket was a little dry and tough, but pulled pork was very good, as were the links and the sides (beans and slaw).

Railhead - On way to airport, got a sliced brisket sandwich to take out. Even though I ate it an hour later, this place gets my vote as the best of the four. I would have liked a chance to sample their other stuff.

There's the wrap-up, not the greatest BBQ in Texas but much better than anything in the northeast. Next time I'll try to get down to Lockhart, or at least Ft. Worth.
