I was very very sad to hear that Dakshin, a rare and tremendously authentic and delicious outpost for Tamil cuisine, will close its doors on April 27th.
They had health department problems a while ago, and those issues sort of went viral. Though they cleaned up their act (if not, the health dept. would not have permitted reopening), the restaurant was never able to recover. They've done a few gigunda banquets, and I've never been able to get up for one. This is a sad night for me. It was one of my favorite restaurants.
