Dairy Joy

Living in Lincoln, 10 minutes from Dairy Joy, is not good for my diet. My wife, daughter and I picked up fried clams, lobster rolls, fries and onion rings on Saturday night. I have always enjoyed their clams, but had never before had their lobster roll: it was delicious. Large sweet chunks of lobster served in the traditional buttered and grilled (but not at all greasy) hotdog roll. It was a bit mayonnaisy, but that did not detract from the wonderful taste of the lobster.

A word of caution about Dairy Joy, however: it is not cheap. A small order of clams is $13.95, and the lobster roll is $16.95. Two orders of clams, two lobster rolls, a medium fries and a large onion rings cost me $70. Perhaps this is not out of the ordinary, particularly given the quality of the food, but I have noticed that the larger the size you order, the less value you get. For example, I ordered two small clams, rather than one medium or one large, because you get a lot more for your money this way. Similarly, the medium fries, which is $3.50 (and probably should be $2.50), is more than half the size of large fries, which cost a ridiculous $7.50 (which probably should be $3.50).

Bottom line: I highly recommend Dairy Joy for their great food. Just stick to the small sizes and double up if you need more.
