Daily Grill Special; nothing special

Zoe | Apr 24, 200611:30 AM

The Daily Grill card fell out of the Sunday paper - looked inviting: $21.95 for a filet, choice of three kinds of shrimp - barby, kebab and tempura - plus broccoli and a twice baked potato. We're on.

The result: ordered a side of gazpacho ($3.95 when you order an entree) - a side of caesar and split the dinner. Soup was, as usual, good. Caesar just doesn't have the punch that I like (at Soleil for instance its delicious); Mme Zoe ate the filet - done medium as requested with a good sauce, I ate the tempura which came with a pungent dipping sauce - 4 big shrimp (I ate 3 and Mme wanted to try one); the main disappointment was the twice baked potato which Mme said was twice died potato. The idea was good but it had that horrid heated up flavor. Best one I ever ate came from Greenblatts Deli. I guess that's the next stop. Efficient service but a chilly wait for the car because one attendant and a line up - gawd its windy/cold in Santa Monica in the evening.
Free valet on the weekends and there is NO parking around, so its a good thing.
