Daily Grill: Lobster Pot Pie Last Night

My wife loved her LPP last night. First of all, this thing is huge with a beautiful golden brown crust with what looks to be either a sky diver in free fall or lobster embossed into the crust. Enormous hunks of tender lobster and some nice vegetables with enough bechamel sauce to float a large yacht. The price was, (I think) $18.95, which seemed very reasonable for what you got. Two could easily share this with starters before and they would be full afterwards. I am now up a few points in my "good hubby" account I think.

This is the old Cutter's space, across the street from the Water Garden, (2501 Colorado Ave.) in Santa Monica. It is a comfortable room that reminded us a bit of the clubby atmosphere at Houston's in Century City. Very spacious black leather booths. My wife started with the caesar salad, which was pretty good. I had the grilled artichoke - pretty damn tasty and I tried the black cod with asparagus risotto which I liked.

Finally we split a piece of cheese cake and one coffee. All that came to $92 plus tip. They validated our parking and we paid nada to exit the structure. Not cheap, but last night for the first time at the DG I came away not feeling like I had gotten the worst of the bargain.
