I recently had the good fortune to obtain a batch of Burmese tea leaves (leppet). One of the leppet mixtures includes an ingredient called "dahendi."
There is a picture of a packet of preserved dahendi at the link below and a picture of a jar of pickled dahendi (which looks a bit like sadtaw beans) at http://tinyurl.com/on97v. A Burmese informant says "dahendi is [a] kind of the vegetable. It has a strong smell but tastes good."
I've looked online and in my extensive collection of cookbooks and can't find a botanical or common name.
Can you tell me what dahendi is?
