The much discussed hole-in-the-wall burger place with one of the longest hatching periods in Chowhound history is apparently dead.
I was in the mood for a burger for lunch today in honor of the beginning of Spring so I thought it'd been long enough after the initial rough opening to check Dad's out. There's a "Grand Opening" banner out front, and a banner advertising half price burgers on Tuesdays after a Redskins win (how long has that been obsolete?). The door was locked, all the stools were piled on the counter, and the kitchen looked like it hadn't been cooked in for a while.
Good thing there's a 5 Guys just on the other side of Lee Highway.
Noticed the signs that Velocity Five, the replacement for the Shark Club in that neighborhood, is now open, for those who care about flat screen TV sports bars.
