Has any Chowhounder when in Rome been recently to Da Benito e Giberto al Falco, Via del Falco, 19, near Piazza San Pietro? It appears now to be open also for dinner ("lunch" to you Yankees).
The Vatican area is such a wasteland for dining. I've found to date only one good place, Il Mozzicone dei Fratelli Poggi, Borgo Pio 180. I ate there last 13 Feb. I had a fine piece of the fried cod, a very good Spaghetti Carbonara, and a good Roman Artichoke. It's just a simple trattoria, with the Roman classics simply done, yet I've found nothing better in the area.
I have a lot of news about my recent dining in Venice and Rome; pray that I'll get off my rear and report to Chowhound. Sorry about posting this twice; I can't figure out how to delete.
