This sounds kinda cool:
This coming Saturday (October 4) between 1pm and 7pm, the annual Czech Street Festival will take place on 83rd St. between Madison and Park Avenues in Manhattan. Among other non-chow events, the restaurants Bohemian Hall and Milans will serve hot and cold dishes (schnitzel with potato salad, gulash, roast pork and cabbage, as well as less-known dishes such as Szeged gulash (with sauerkraut), sausages with cabbage, pierogis, fish salad, crepes, and a variety of pastries). Mrs. Bisek of Long Island will serve her outstanding pastries from the Bohemian Hall stand. (A word to the wise come early for best selection.) The Zlata Praha will be there too.
A follow-up party with plentiful Czech beer will ensue after 7pm at the Bohemian Hall in Astoria, and anyone can come. (Alcohol cannot be served at street festivals.)
