Cuvae in Rockridge

Nathan Landau | Oct 24, 2004 01:45 AM

We had our second really good dinner at Cuvae tonight but much of the time we were the only paying customers there. Admittedly it was rainy so they couldn't use their outdoor space, but they've got a very pretty inside dining room. We're worried about their viability, we'd hate to see them go.

We weren't extremely hungry so we each wound up with a small plate, a soup and a salad, which worked fine. We got an ahi poke at the beginning, which my wife quickly snatched away because she wouldn't eat the rich kahlua pork spring rolls that I got. My generously sized salad had rare skirt steak over spring mix with an aioli I couldn't identify, hers had duck breast over the same greens. She also got a (small) creamy shitaake mushroom soup while I took the house's gift of a surprisingly light pork broth and mushroom soup with bok choy. They've also always been friendly. The total with a beer apiece, tax and tip was $53. We'd recommend it.
