I purchase a M'heritage 250C 9 piece set from Cutlery and More 3 weeks ago during a sale. This set is exclusive to CnM I think and advertised as 2.5 mm of copper. When I opened the set, I noticed the 6.4 qt stock pot and 3.2 qt saute pan were much thinner than the other pieces. A quick measure with a measuring tape says they both were less than 2mm. I called CnM and let them know and basically wanted a replacement. They wanted to speak to Mauviel first. A few days later, I received an email from CnM letting me know that according to Mauviel, the thickness variation is normal. All the pieces start out with a 2.5 mm sheet of copper, and gets thinner as it is pounded into shape. The larger the piece, the thinner it becomes. They added that all their inventory of the stock pots and saute pans were all measured the same width. To be frank, I thought it was a crock of BS. Needless to say, I told them I was disappointed and wanted to think about replacement vs returning the whole set.
I then called Mauviel USA and inquire about the thickness of the 250C stock pot and saute pan thickness. Not surprisingly, I was told it should be at 2.5 mm. However, I was also informed that not all 250C sets include a 2.5 mm stock pot or saute pan. When given the CnM set item number, the Mauviel rep disappeared for a while. When she returned she told me she contacted CnM who told her they were waiting for Mauviel France to respond, which was not what was told to me by CnM. After being told that, the Mauviel rep could not confirm that the 9 piece set sold by CnM is one the sets that include a 1.5 mm stock pot and 1.5 mm saute pan, not a 2.5mm. She became vague and all of a sudden couldn't answer any of my questions.
Has anyone ran into the same problem with the thickness discrepancy with Mauviel or Cutlery and More?
Needless to say, I feel like I've been scammed, either by CnM or/and Mauviel. I suspect it is CnM that is misrepresenting and falsely advertising their 9 piece set. If either company is falsely advertising and committing fraud, everyone should know of their indecent practice.
Based on the posts I have read here about copper, there are a lot of copper experts here. Any input would be greatly appreciate. Thank you
