Please don't cut my pie

Brian S | Feb 15, 2007 09:08 AM

Since my mom moved to Tulsa, I've noticed that when we invite guests to dinner, if an unsliced loaf of bread or pie is on the menu, one of the guests will invariably cut it into neat slices and put it on the table. Since there are only one or two guests, most of the loaf or pie is left over for the next day, and the slices dry. Even if, by rare happenstance, the pie is uncut, the first person cutting a slice will bisect the pie before cutting the piece, leaving two pie halves. Is this common, accepted procedure?
