Upon reading Ruth Lafler's post about the chicken soup (#16) at Phnom Penh in Oakland being her favorite treatment for the common cold, I am wondering what other people's favorites are. I am often at a loss for a decent brew when I get sick and usually just heat up some Tabachnick. If I'm really desperate and I still have some strength left, I'll use some of the yummy frozen "homemade" broth from Bi-Rite or Berkeley Bowl and add some veggies and a chicken breast or two--tasty but a lot of effort if you're really down.
I feel a cold beginning to overtake me today, and I plan to fortify myself with Phnom Penh's broth when I get home tonight. What other options are out there? Jewish and non-Jewish penecillin suggestions requested.
