Just got back from lunch at the downtown Cupini's, 25 E 12th st. I had a very nice chicken panini, and then bitter disappointment: an absolutely terrible tiramisu. Stale & dry ladyfingers, gunky topping (I can't call it mousse or custard, it was too thick and dry), and a 1/4 inch thick *layer* of chalky cocoa powder (as opposed to the normal light dusting that is perfectly nice). Oh well, at least it was FIVE DOLLARS.
I will definitely be going back to Cupini's for the sandwiches, and I am eager to try their pasta, which is made fresh in-house every day and smelled and looked heavenly. But can anyone tell me if all their desserts are bad? Or is it just the tiramisu? Or was that the one bad serving in a thousand great ones?
