I have already made a large traditional English Christmas Cake to an old family recipe but was thinking of making some mini cupcake ones in gold wrappers for a party.

I am a decent enough cook but rarely bake such fruitcakes. I can't actually stand them myself but they are a traditional English Christmas thing! Do people think that this sort of recipe would work out on a small scale. I can't really find suitable recipes or timings for mini cakes.
My big cake was cooked for four hours and double wrapped in newspaper etc... Would mini cakes burn before the inside was cooked?
Any guidance welcome.
