Cuisinart dlc-7 blades/discs in a 14 custom?

jcard | Jan 2, 201802:29 PM     21

I am having conflicting info all over the internet. I have in front of me a box of dlc-7 discs that's pretty old. Also in front of me is a brand new 14 cup custom that I got for Christmas. The blades in the box and the blades that came with the machine are identical. The stem fits in the older ones, and the whole assembly fits in the machine just fine. I haven't tried actually cutting anything though. The ONLY difference i can see is there is a weight on the newer blades. Is this a problem? Everywhere online people say the two don't fit/are not compatible but I am wondering if people are thinking dlc-7 = 7 cup? Why the weight? I assume to make it faster/"hit" harder but will the non-weighted ones stress the motor out? Or is this a total no-go for other reasons I'm not seeing?
