Cuisinart 7-cup or 11-cup - Which Should I Buy?

DuffyH | Aug 14, 201809:46 PM     29

I'm in the market for a new food processor, and can't decide between the Cuisinart DLC-10SY Pro Classic 7-Cup and DLC-8SBCY Pro Custom 11-Cup. I've got an old (1997) Kitchenaid 12-cup that I just don't use anymore. It works great, but the blade sits too high off the floor to enable me to prep small batches of things in the large bowl, and the small bowl has always splattered down into the large bowl, which means I have to clean 2 bowls and the lid when I use it. So it mostly sits unused while my knife skills get a workout. I've been using my Zo bread machine for pizza and bread dough, but it doesn't appreciate making just 1 pound of dough, although it will do it. I hand mix cookie dough and quick breads, but my old arms are protesting at that task.

Are there any ways the models differ, aside from size? Feed tubes, locking mechanism, etc...? The 11-cup is the better deal, only $30 more than the 7-cup, and includes the flat cover and an extra slicing blade. But can it deal with just 1 cup of salsa or pesto? Can the 7-cup make a pound of chocolate chip cookie dough or pizza dough without straining the motor?
