Cubanos -- Ridiculously Overpriced and Not Worth it

sbs | Nov 21, 2003 10:19 AM

Went to Cubanos in Downtown Silver Spring last night. I really really wanted to like it, since I live in that neighborhood where this is a dearth of fine establishments. We were really disappointed. We ordered snapper with vegetables and plantains and for $19 an entree, we were expecting a fine meal. But what we got was a piece of fish and some vegetables that were absolutely drowning in butter, with 2 plaintains on the side. The fish was pretty tasteless (except for butter) and was something that I could have made at home (except that mine would have tasted good and cost me about $5). On the other hand, the beans and rice and plaintain side orders were good, but I'd rather go to Cuban Corner for that as well.
