Crystal Jade's a sizeable chain in Singapore that, all things considered, falls into the realm of good but not extraordinary. Ate at the smaller noodle and dumpling shop of their great world city branch today.
Had several of their Shanghainese little plates for lunch today. All of which were competent and satisfying. Won't go into all the dishes, but worth mentioning the great deep frying on the crispy eel, even if it wasn't the most refined version I've had.
Xiao Long Bao is actually excellent and worth getting. Very careful folds on the dumplings to form a thin top knot, thin and delicate but not overly fragile skin, a nice amount of soup within and satisfying seasoning on the minced pork. My parents weren't particularly impressed with the branch of Ding Tai Fung in Singapore, but thought highly of this one.
I liked the dessert of the light puffy egg white dough stuffed with red bean paste and banana.
