In NY, my favorites are Sullivan Street Bakery and Balthazar. The best bread I've tasted in the Phoenix metro area, thus far, is served at Zinc Bistro. It has a wonderful, crusty exterior and a moist, slightly sour interior. Does anyone know where I can buy that bread or something similar? We've resorted to having very expensive 10-pound loaves from Eli's Bakery shipped overnight to our vacation home, which we then quarter, slice and freeze, but we would dearly love to find it locally.
