Has anyone tried Crivello Italian Restaurant on Newport Blvd. in Newport Beach? We went there for lunch today and found it to be very good. We both had the gnocci with gorgonzola sauce and it was the best gorgonzola we had since Angel's in NYC.
The pasta dishes are served with bread and a thick marinara for spreading on it. The prices for the pastas were inexpensive ($8-10).
There have been many eating places before Crivello opened a few months ago such as a Cajan restaurant, an Italian place and others which I can't remember. None of them were very busy.
When we ate there today we were the only diners.
We were told that they are busier on weekends and I certainly hope so because they will be a regular for us as long as they can stay open. I know they don't have lunch on Monday and Tuesday, but I forgot to find out their closing days.
