take-away crepes

during a summer in paris as a college student, i treated myself to street-stand crepes at LEAST twice a week. mostly chicken & gruyere (such a perfect combo) with nutella as a close second choice. a simple citron was also always welcome. i enjoyed the galettes in restaurants crammed full of interesting ingredients as well, but there was something special about the spongy, slightly sweet, wrapped-in-paper take-away crepes that i have never replicated in new york. especially not for $4--that chicken & gruyere crepe was economical as well!

do i just not know where to look? i heard mention of a place called crepes-to-go in the west village, but i don't know where it is. i tried creperie on ludlow recently, which was decent...but still laid flat on a plate. i want something that is easier to eat with my hands. i remember going to shades before, but it was a long time ago. i believe i liked it but it still wasn't the same experience. i have been to crooked tree which is ok, but i don't know what take-out is like...same for le gamin.
