For fun I did a search on this board for The Crepe Place since it was one of my favorite haunts during my college days in the early 80s. I was amused and intrigued by all the controversy!! I loved it then and always go back to it when I'm in town. My last visit was 4 years ago and we'll be going there for lunch this coming weekend for sure.
Fun story -- hubby and I came to SC for a visit about 2 years after the big earthquake of '89. Wandered around Pacific Avenue, looking at how everything had changed. Got to the end, hoping to enjoy lunch at TCP, only to discover, to our dismay, that it was no longer there. So we went off to our other haunt, which was the Buffalo Trading Company (I think that was the name...it was a newer haunt after we got married, and we moved away soon after, so the name didn't stick with me as much)...only to discover, to our dismay that they were gone, too, but to our delight that The Crepe Place was there instead!!! I had no idea, until reading their website yesterday, that they had moved into the Cooper House first after a mudslide/rockslide...only a few months before the earthquake. They have been through so much and are still going strong.
Anyway, I always get the spinach supreme or the turkey/cranberry crepe and eat every molecule. Personally, I love lots of different flavors and textures in a dish. For those that want things simpler, just create your own. Hubby is famous for ordering "shrimp, sour cream, spinach, and sour cream." :)
I love chowhound...I love hearing everyone's strong opinions, knowing that no one is really "wrong"...just different!!!
