creme fraiche and lemon ice cream

adamclyde | Nov 3, 2005 01:40 PM

I thought I remembered either reading in the newspaper or here on Chowhound lately about a recipe for creme fraiche and lemon ice cream. Maybe it was sour cream and lemon ice cream... can't remember. Anyhow, I have some fresh lemons and a big thing of creme fraiche calling out to me in my fridge... but I can't find the recipe. Can anyone help? Maybe the recipe was from the LA times? I searched there and can't find it.

Mr. Taster and Carb Lover had a thread a few weeks back about buttermilk and lemon ice cream... but the recipe sounded untested and folks expressed doubt about it. If I were to try it, could I just sub out the buttermilk for the creme fraiche? But creme fraiche has a much higher cream content than buttermilk. Maybe I'd could do 1/2 CF and 1/2 whole milk?

Or if all those avenues don't lead to an answer... does anyone have an ice cream recipe that incorporates creme fraiche (or sour cream) and lemon???

Your help is greatly appreciated.
