Cremaldi's Friday night dinner review

I finally stopped by Cremaldi's for their special Friday night dinner. Really lovely atmosphere and very friendly service, but the food was really just so-so and quite expensive for so-so.

The menu is small, I believe two or three appetizer options. There were four entree options: spinach gnocchi in tomato sauce, chicken piccata w/noodles, steak w/roquefort sauce, and grilled salmon. I was in a salmon mood and so was my dining companion, but we were both disappointed. The salmon was completely burnt on the outside (it was labeled "crunchy" on the menu but I was hoping for a something other than charred!). The rice was good (coconut and cashew flavored), the brocolli was overcooked and lackluster. The salmon at the table next to us also looked burnt, so apparently it was intentional.

The servers were great and it was a very nice neighborhood atmosphere. Maybe we just chose the wrong dish (although the server had recommended it over the chicken), but at $20 an entree there are tons of better options in Cambridge.
