Cream cheese substitute for baking

kittyfood | Jan 23, 202004:21 AM     16

I live in New Orleans, and I want to make a king cake with a Mexican twist for a tamale party. I plan to make a guava filling, but cream cheese would make it even better. The hostess has digestive issues with any type of cream, so I'm looking for a substitute that would hold up in baking. I don't have experience with any of the commercial alternatives. Suggestions I've found online include pureed cottage cheese or well-drained greek yogurt, or I'm also thinking of labneh, but I am concerned that these may break down during baking and turn the whole thing into a soggy mess. Does anybody have experience with this?
