crawfish report, Cajun Claws

Beau Noppatee | Feb 13, 2003 10:14 AM

Whew, this place on Charity Street (Hwy 14 about 10 blocks East of the courhouse in Abbeville) is even better than the newly opened Mr. Keets in Maurice, although not as spiffy and each order was $2 more ($12.95 for three pound orders, $17.95 for five pounds). And the crawfish were so uniformly big that we counted - there were exactly 12 crawfish of medium sized, instead of enormous (as were all their other unfortunate comrades on the tray). Cajun Claws has been around about 5 years and they made their reputation on uniformly large crawfish. And they pay attention to amenities - big plastic bibs, heated towlettes to clean your hands, icy cold beer w/ frozen mugs. A definite must for hounds seeking the best of crawfish season. And if you also want to clog some arteries, they serve fried pistolettes with chocolate or lemon icing alongside big scoops of ice cream for dessert.
