Hello everybody, I'm looking for a shop in Queens that sells top quality, coarse sea salt. Something better (and cheaper) than those French cylinders one finds in Supermarkets and something dryer (and less oily) than what's sold in Korean stores.
In Italy, this is called "Sale Marino" and more than almost anything else, is responsible for the wonderful intensity of flavor in many dishes.
I ask this for two reasons; first, I need some. (but I always could use more) And second, this would be a good indicator of a quality Italian grocery, rather than a fancy food shop or Italian American store.
This salt doesn't need to be from Italy, I'm certain that French, Spanish, or Greek salt of this quality exists too. I'd just like some new ideas on where to find it.
