I thought I should mention our addiction to Mikado, on Route 70 in New Jersey, just across from the Hilton. If you live in downtown Philly, it's ten minutes away.
If we don't get there every week or two, we suffer withdrawal symptoms.
This is a casual place, (you can wear shorts, bring children), with marvelous sushi, excellent service, and a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. No hassle, like some of our old favorites.
Their sushi is always fresh and the portions are larger than many other places. Although we mainly order sushi or sashimi, I do love the Dragon Roll - eel, avocado, caviar on top, and I forget what else. There are always special rolls, and they seem to have more flavor than other places.
Even their ginger dressing has a better taste. I would like that recipe.
Anyway, it's not a secret any more, so it's been filling up on weekends and I now call ahead. But we've still never felt rushed or squeezed in.
If anyone else tries Mikado, let me know how you like it. I can't vouch for their cooked food, because that's not what we order, except for occasional dumplings. But the sushi - -aaah!
