We checked out a new place in Carroll Gardens yesterday, Crave on Henry and 1st Place. It was great, a really nice brunch. Brunch at $15 is just a tad more than what seems to be the fixed $12 or so in most places on Smith etc, but it is very good value and high-quality: you get coffee/tea, and juice, and greens/fruit salad/soup of day (yesterday it was butternut and acorn squash w/ chive oil, and was yummy), bread basket of mixed breads, and main dish (choice of about 5 I recall). I had Smoked Salmon w/ poached quails egg and lemon creme fraiche on little toasts, which was very nice. My wife and my sister had a French Toast sandwich stuffed w/ stewed berries and surrounded by berry coulis and coated in honey, which I tasted and was very good, made with challah. My sister's b/f didn't do the brunch menu but had a really good looking chicken noodle soup and then a jerk pork sandwich on ciabatta.
There are daily specials every day and yesterday's ones sounded good. Also a good permanent menu (got it at home can't recall items just now) and also is baby-friendly with home-made organic babyfood available.
Place is cute and small, with a few table outside too. The owners/chefs are a husband and wife team who came out to say hello and are very nice.
Nice beer menu, about 5 interesting kinds at $4 each, and about 3 wines at $18 a bottle (or $6 a glass).
